Watermelon-Strawberry Smoothie

Drinking water is essential to keeping our bodies hydrated, yet for those moments that water loses its appeal eating foods that are high in water content can help you meet your daily water needs. Watermelon is 92% water, so this fruit choice is definitely a great one for those hot summer days. High water content fruits and veggies help you feel full longer and faster . The combination of both water and fiber means you’re getting a good amount of food in without a lot of the extra calories. Watermelon has only 46 calories per cup, and has a ton of nutritional benefits. Among other vitamins it is high in carotenoids, beta-carotene, and lycopene. It also provides citrulline, an important amino acid. Watermelon is also said to reduce cancer risk, impove heart health, can help lower inflammation and  oxidative stress,  improve hair and skin, and the list of it’s benefits go on.  I’ve been making this smoothie as a refresher all summer long, and thought I’d share it with you today. Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do!
