I’ve come to realize that quite a few people don’t enjoy the papaya fruit when consumed plain. Some say it’s because they smell, while others say it just simply has a bad taste. The good news is that when mixed in a smoothie the combination of other fruits gives it a good flavor that most people typically find enjoyable. This is super exciting for those of you who don’t typically enjoy papaya, because you can take advantage of the nutrition found in this fruit by using it in a smoothie recipe. By mixing it into a healthy drink you can reap the full benefits this fruit has for your body, just a few of these benefits being it’s antioxidant properties, fights inflammation, Anti-cancer properties, can help improve digestion, and it protects against skin damage. The papaya is definitely a fruit you should consider adding into your diet if you’re not already consuming it!
- 1 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
- 1/4 cup almond yogurt (or yogurt of choice)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 ripe strawberry papaya, peeled, seeded and chopped
- 1 small ripe banana, peeled and sliced
- 2 strawberries
- 1 peach
- 1 cup ice cubes
Combine the almond milk, almond yogurt, vanilla, peach, banana, papaya and ice cubes in a blender and blend until smooth. Slice strawberries, and use as topping (optional). Pour into a glass, and enjoy!
